Programs & Services
CrossOver is a health home to patients, volunteers, and staff
CrossOver offers compassionate care in a patient-centered health home. In fiscal year 2019, CrossOver provided services to more than 6,500 people. Read below to learn more about our programs.
Our patients can receive a full range of primary care services at CrossOver. Patients’ primary care providers can also connect them to our other programs, including dental, vision, specialty care, and social work. Both uninsured and Medicaid patients can receive care at CrossOver if they meet eligibility requirements.
CrossOver’s dental program offers an array of dental services to our patients, including:
- Preventative care: cleanings, patient education, screenings
- Restorative: fillings, extractions
CrossOver’s dental program collaborates with our pharmacists and primary care providers to help patients better understand the connection between oral health and their overall health.
CrossOver vision patients receive a complete eye exam including retinal screenings, refractions, and visual field exams. If these routine exams reveal abnormalities, the patient will be referred to specialists for treatment.
For patients needing corrective lenses, we currently are able to provide vouchers for glasses at Lens Crafters and Virginia Eye Institute.
Our vision team sees patients from CrossOver as well as seven other medical safety-net providers.
CrossOver is the only charitable clinic in the Richmond area with a licensed on-site pharmacy. Medications are dispensed to CrossOver patients as well as patients at The Health Brigade, Center for Healthy Hearts, the Free Clinic of Powhatan, Bon Secours Care-A-Van, St. Joseph’s Outreach Clinic, and Goochland Free Clinic and Family Services. Medications are couriered from the Community Pharmacy to other clinics by the Bon Secours Health System lab couriers.
At CrossOver, we know that mental health is a key part of comprehensive healthcare. We offer short-term counseling, long-term counseling, and psychiatric care in both of our clinic locations, so patients don’t have to deal with additional barriers to accessing care, such as transportation concerns or long wait times to be seen elsewhere.
Comprehensive healthcare means more than simply tending to medical needs. Our social work team helps patients who need support with affordable housing, food insecurity, unemployment or underemployment, and legal issues, as well as understanding how to navigate a variety of government systems.
CrossOver is the only charitable clinic in Richmond to offer full-spectrum HIV/AIDS care. Rapid confidential HIV testing is available on a walk-in basis at both of our clinic locations. Testing is available to patients as well as non-patients Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and after hours testing is available on certain dates. The test requires a finger stick and results are available in 15 minutes. Call 804-655-2794, ext. 115 for further information.
Women's Health and OB Care
CrossOver offers full women’s annual exams, including referrals for mammograms.
Our OB program offers full prenatal testing, OB care, and registration with WIC. We work with area hospitals to connect our patients to labor and delivery tours and classes at the hospital they choose. If a mother faces a complicated pregnancy, she is transferred to specialty care.
CrossOver OB program mothers labor and birth at the hospital they choose. Following delivery, they return to CrossOver for postpartum care.
