Volunteer at CrossOver Healthcare Ministry

The bare truth is that without our volunteers, CrossOver would not be able to do what we do. By visiting this page, you have taken the first step toward becoming an integral part of a vibrant community resource. Thank you!

CrossOver volunteers make a difference every day in the lives of patients, families, and the community. It is entirely possible for a patient to arrive at CrossOver and have contact with only volunteers throughout the entire visit. From the person checking them in at the front office to nursing support to interpreters to medical providers to pharmacists, we are blessed to have over 800 dedicated volunteers who walk hand in hand with our mission to “provide healthcare, promote wellness and connect community talents and resources with people in need in the name of Jesus Christ.”

Cast your vote today about what kind of community you want to live in! Volunteer with us at CrossOver. Read more below and reach out today!

“Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.” — Unknown

Types of Volunteers

Licensed Practitioners
As a medical facility with two clinics located in identified areas of need in Richmond, CrossOver is always looking for licensed practitioners willing to donate their time and talent. Our needs include but are not limited to:

  • Primary Care Providers
  • Specialty Providers
  • Pediatricians
  • Dentists/pediatric dentists
  • Ophthalmologists
  • Optometrists
  • Pharmacists
Nurses and Nursing Support
Without the skill, time and energy that our nurses so generously and lovingly give we would grind to a halt. We have a truly dedicated base of nurse volunteers but are always in need of more.
Scribes
Scribe positions at CrossOver are in high demand. CrossOver scribes are exposed to patients, physicians, the diagnostic process, treatment and follow up. Scribing allows the scribe time with the physician and patient that he/she would otherwise be unable to attain.

There is an application window and process for serving as a scribe. Please see the how to volunteer section if you are interested.

Interpreters
CrossOver is blessed with a rich and diverse patient base. With that richness come many language and cultural differences. We are doubly blessed to have so many outstanding interpreters who reach across idiomatic and cultural divides every day to help ensure that our patients truly receive quality compassionate care.

If you are lucky enough to speak a second language, please consider serving as an interpreter.

Administrative Support
Many of our volunteers support our organization in a non-clinical manner, helping it run more smoothly and ensuring better patient care.

If you have a heart for volunteering and a skill that has not been mentioned elsewhere, please consider helping on our administrative support team.

Students/Internships
CrossOver receives a number of internship and preceptorship inquiries and we are not able to accommodate all of these requests. They are evaluated on a case by case basis by the Volunteer Program Manager.

If you are interested in an internship or preceptorship at CrossOver please email Molly Smith, the Volunteer Program Manager, at msmith@crossoverministry.org, and include the following information in the email:

  • Name of school and program/degree/certification
  • Name and contact information of supervisory faculty/staff at school
  • Dates of internship/preceptorship
  • Number of supervised hours
  • Requirements of CrossOver as supervising facility

Once this information is received at CrossOver it will be reviewed and you will be contacted.
