How to Become a CrossOver Patient
Unfortunately, we are not able to accept all new patients seeking healthcare services. Please follow the steps below.
The Cowardin and Western Henrico clinics are now selecting new patients to be screened in by a LOTTERY system. DO NOT COME EARLY! Lottery tickets will be given out at 8 am sharp on open registration days to all present.
- If you’ve recently been in the hospital/ER, are pregnant or HIV positive, please speak to the front desk at your earliest convenience. You do NOT need to go through the lottery system.

STEP 1: Check Your Eligibility
Please review documents in the “Income Guidelines for Patients” section which provides income limits as well as the required forms of documentation.
STEP 2: Attend a Lottery Screening Event
We select patients to be screened in using a lottery system at the times and locations listed below. Times & days are subject to change without notice. We reserve the right to limit the number of individuals screened in at any given time. Those chosen in the lottery will be given a date and time to return within the month to return for the financial screening.
Prospective new Patients will be screened the first week of each month on the following days:
English: Monday at 8 am
Spanish: Wednesday at 8 am
(Patients renewing eligibility will be seen between 1:30 and 3 pm on Monday & Wednesday.)
Western Henrico (PLEASE NOTE NEW TIMES)
English: Tuesday at 8 am
Spanish: Thursday at 8 am
(Patients renewing eligibility will be seen Wednesdays at 1 pm and Fridays 9 am.)
STEP 3: If Chosen, Attend Your Financial Screening
PLEASE BRING A PHOTO ID AND ONE PROOF OF INCOME TO YOUR FINANCIAL SCREENING FOR ALL INCOME EARNED BY YOUR LEGAL HOUSEHOLD.
Please note that additional documentation may be required depending on your financial situation.

Using the Patient Portal
CrossOver offers our patients easy and private access to their medical information online, so you can view your personal health record whenever and wherever you have access to the Internet!
How to get a web account
To gain access to our secure server on Patient Portal, sign up by providing us with a personal (non-work) e-mail address at the front office. You will be able to securely log in with your username and password, and gain access to your personal health record and other helpful features from any computer or smartphone with an Internet connection!
Confidential Rapid HIV Testing
HIV testing is now available on a walk-in basis at both CrossOver locations. You do not need to be a CrossOver patient in order to use this service. The test requires a finger stick and results are available in 15 minutes.
Testing is available Monday to Thursday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday: 8:30 am to 3 pm. After hours testing are available on certain dates. Call 804-233-5016, ext. 130 for further information.
